I decided to dual boot it with Peppermint 10 so that the kids can experience Linux. Setting up dual-booting and installing Peppermint 10 was a breeze. Everything worked fine until I decided that GRUB may be too daunting for those kids that haven’t used Linux before. The Linux kernel is installed. 7: Most of the Gentoo system configuration files are created. 8: The necessary system tools are installed. 9: The proper boot loader has been installed and configured. 10: The freshly installed Gentoo Linux environment is ready to be explored. I am thinking of buying a Acer Aspire 5 with Windows 10 Home. I'd like to set up a dual boot with the majority of the hard drive dedicated to Ubuntu 20.04. There are a few threads about Acer machines but many are several years old.

I've found a Dell Precision (spec below) refurbished online.
Last year I bought an Asus which I'm going to sell on at a loss - it fought against Ubuntu installation, and in my ignorance I hadn't realised how limiting a fairly early i3 processor would be. Other issues too, though it works perfectly on Windows.
Before I get financially burned again, if this Dell machine stays available long enough, would you recommend it as suitable for dual-boot installing alongside its Windows10 with Ubuntu 20.04?
I am no expert, but have installed dual boot with earlier Ubuntu editions on other laptops. The Asus defeated me, my ability is limited to fairly straightforward installations.
